MyEnglish© Reading, Writing and Grammar includes three courses at three Levels:
- Level I - Basic reading, writing and grammar skills;
- Level II - Intermediate in preparation for high school; and
- Level III - Advanced in preparation for college, university or a professional career.
Each course includes 3 to 4 Units that offer grammar activities, reading activities and writing assignments. Every Unit is composed of 5 Lessons designed to do the following:
Lessons 1 and 3 in each Unit focus on reading and specific aspects of the writing process. In Unit I Lesson 1, for example, students are taught to to start a paragraph with a main idea and to focus on the main idea throughout the paragraph.
Lessons 2 and 4 in each Unit focus on the use of specific grammar concepts that are essential for writing clear and correct sentences. In Unit I for example, students are asked to do grammar activities on nouns, adjectives and simple sentences in preparation for using powerful nouns and descriptive adjectives when they write paragraphs.
Lesson 5 in each Unit focuses on editing and revising the grammar and text structure of paragraphs, essays or reports. In Unit I for Example, students are asked to edit and revise a paragraph. A comprehensive grammar and writing resource is made available to students to help them with the difficult task of revising and editing.
MyEnglish© includes specific writing assignments. Students are asked to write feedback on each others' text on ways of improving them. KnowledgebuilderTM may be asked to write feedback (for a fee). The writing assignments are assigned as follows:
- Level I - 8 paragraphs
- Level II - 4 paragraphs and 2 reports
- Level III - 1 report, 2 essays and 1 editorial
MyEnglish© has some special features designed to help students improve their writing. These features, which are embedded in the Lessons in each Unit, include the following:
- Lessons and learning resources for the teacher
- Learning activities in grammar and text structure (called Reading)
- Immediate feedback on the grammar and Reading activities
- Feedback comments and protocol for grammar and writing
- Scoring based on rubrics for final drafts submitted in Lesson 5 in each Unit
- Class reports prepared for the teachers
